Not even nothing can
Exist in a vacuum where,
In quantum concert, waves
Of possibility, virtual, in
Space and time --irreducible--
Result in you and me.
Nothing unreal lasts
For very long in forces
Around weak or strong
Charges in disturbance--
Light orphaned in dance
Springs from timeless nowhere.
I do not know if it
Can wholly return there.
I will consult with my physicist husband. But, the idea that nothing can exist in a vacuum--the truth is undeniable.
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers. Such deep rich purple.
Thanks, Susan. Sweet Peas and Irises are putting on quite a show this year. Poem is adapted from morning garden thoughts about virtual photons becoming actual when the charge they surround is jostled.
DeleteI like your writing even when I don't understand it, Geo.! It is like a lullaby. Beautiful flower Normaphoto to go with beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand it all the time either, Jenny, only moments when the multiverse and I feel equally probable. Norma and I thank you!
DeleteI love the lines and concept of "Light orphaned in dance Springs from timeless nowhere." Marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tom. Someday, perhaps, we'll understand it, but I for one have a ways to go yet. Reality is indeed marvelous.
DeleteI like knowing we are waves of possibility.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is beautiful.
Thanks, Sandra! Most kind.
DeleteSpace and time. Oh, how mystical this life is in general.
ReplyDeleteThe mystical has a way of becoming the familiar in our lives as we seek greater regions of understanding. Light expands.
