Rose

Mind, time, distillate
Turned upon itself:
Futures seek pasts,
Petals, constellated
Light, galactic dawn
And earth to raise
A flower on.

    1. O_Jenny, sometimes the unimaginably huge universe produces some little thing of very delicate beauty. The rose is part of its language.

  3. Beautiful. There is something ageless about the beauty of roses. Your poem captures that.

  5. I love the fragile edges of the petals; perhaps the beauty in such delicateness is the inevitable loss of it. Your poem captures this universal truth so well.

    1. The rose is a flower both dramatic and cheerful, eager to survive--a good sign from the universe.

    1. Thanks! In ancient Greece and Rome, roses were linked to Aphrodite and Venus --transcendent beauty and love from a higher plane-- quite a punch indeed.

  7. A rose is a rose is a rose, but your photo of a rose and your poem are extra special. They are just lovely, Geo. I hope the spring and summer comes up roses for you and Norma.
