Queen Noire

In keeping with my recent theme of cats and it being rather late at night, I have elected to do it again. You are welcome to visit examples on all 3 of my blogs --please click here and here. I hope you also enjoy this bit of doggerel, er...catterel:

                                          Queen Noire

Norma named her
Noire --who has grown
To claim her eucalyptus
Throne-- a cat-shaped
Droplet of night, she
Assumed royal rights
Between barkbeds and
Flowers, has powers of
Rare device yet does,
Unlike lesser rulers do,
Eat mice; good thing too!

    1. She is indeed, Arleen, and will be going to get neutered this weekend. I feel awful because I can't warn her --she wouldn't understand. This wasn't a prerequisite to British coronations, was it?

  2. What a beauty she is - I have a soft spot for black cats. Have you noticed if she tends to be a better mouser than her brothers? And have you given in and started feeding them yet? :D

    1. Yes, she's a good little mouser. And we have been feeding them for the past 3 weeks to get them gatherable for cage-rides to the vet this week.

    2. Huge kudos to you for arranging for their spay/neuter visit. They won't hold it against you, honest. And it's one way you can definitely make their lives better.

    3. I hope so, Jenny. Tux got collected by a volunteer this morning and I hope he'll forgive me when he gets home.

  3. You really captured "cat-ness!" She's so pretty--those yellow eyes. And she does look royal, I agree.

    1. Thanks goes to Norma on this one, Elizabeth. Noire rules in silence by composing her instincts in dignity --an example for monarchs everywhere.

    1. Most kind, Lisa. Noire and siblings got home yesterday morning. She's sitting in the sunshine a lot.

    3. Noire and brothers(Tux, Hairy) and sister, Grayboy --who I've just learned is female-- are all perking up and goofing off.
