She sees my beat-up book
Where I search again
For an answer
In an old bus that hauled
Gardener to gardens and
Back again and again
And still needs attention.
I like the look of silver.
"Silver?" she says,
"That's rotten duct tape."
Yes, I suppose it is.
"I like it too," she says
And takes a photo.
It sounds like you have two great loves, Geo.
ReplyDeleteI do indeed --but, strangely, am fonder of Norma than our '71 VW bus.
DeleteI love that you all still have that book. :)
ReplyDeleteStill having the book has much to do with still having the bus!
DeleteThat duct tape shows how much that book means to you Geo. Love the poem.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I have no e-reader. I need a book that goes under the bus with me. Duct tape won't help a Kindle covered with grease and brake fluid.
DeleteThe photo tells all.
ReplyDeleteBeat-up book, yes but from it came a cool poem.
I like it, Geo.
Kind beautiful Margie, thank you!
DeleteThat is the look of my mother's cookbook. I learned to cook from that beat-up, cover-less cook book.
ReplyDeleteThere are at least two such tomes on our kitchen shelf, from as many generations. I keep my VW book elsewhere so no mixed up recipes happen.
