Detached Vine

A light trellis snapped
In a bit of twisting wind--
Once something happens
Its shape is held, and
Held also by what did
Not happen and doesn't end.
What remains is not
Misshapen, but surplus,
As all events, all
Directions include us.

  1. Deep.
Could ponder the shape also being held by what didn't happen forever.
    Awesome.

  2. Michelle-- Thanks, that helps. Wrote poem in '98 and have no idea what I meant by it but it seemed to go with Norma's photo. Could be an object lesson in what it's about.

  3. Only you could make a detatched vine sound intriguing!

  4. I am going to chew this over a bit and contemplate the broken trellis that is now surplus. It is deep, Geo, and I have had some wine with dinner, so it might take me awhile.

  5. Good morning, Geo,
This poem makes me thing about the plant that I have, a stem broke off over the weekend, I put the broken stem in some water and will wait for new roots and then replant.

Hmmmmmmmmm, a poem to ponder, nevertheless.

Oh, I must thank you for the lovely comment you left on my poem.
    I am truly honored.
